Online Sports Apparel

Getting in shape is much easier when you have the appropriate sports apparel to wear. With so many online resources, you can now find almost any type of clothing for fitness and exercise, running, playing sports games, etc.

Many of these items can be found online at a sports shopping mall in a variety of brand names such as NBA, NFL, NASCAR and NCAA, and at a reasonable price. Here's a quick guide to sports apparel, and how to choose the clothing and accessories that are right for you.

Apparel for Playing Sports (Sports Jerseys-Apparel, etc.)

When ordering items such as sports jerseys or other apparel for yourself or your team, keep in mind that the fit should be comfortable and the materials should be flexible. During any active game such as football, basketball, soccer, hockey, baseball, etc., there will be lots of arm and leg movement. Be sure to order the appropriate sizes and allow for a little moving room. Don't order items too big because the clothing could be a hindrance if it's too baggy. Spandex materials are usually popular choices for these types of sports.

Track and Running Shoes

If you're involved in track at school or in the professional realm, the main focus should be on your running shoes. Choose shoes that fit snug, but comfortably. The shoes should not slide on your heel, nor should they hurt your toes after wearing them for an hour or two. Be sure the shoes provide adequate support for your heels and arches. Also, buy running shoes that feel lightweight on your feet while running. Check to make sure the shoes have good treads on the bottom. Your running shoes should be a help, not a hindrance.

Fitness Training and Gym Workouts

At the gym, or during fitness training, buy sports clothing according to the type of exercises you will perform. For instance, wear pants that fit snugly around the legs if doing leg exercises, especially on an exercise bike or similar equipment. Loose-fitting pants could get caught in the machinery and cause injury.

For aerobic-style fitness training, wear leotards with leggings, bike shorts and a jog top. Or, wear a snug-fitting t-shirt with boxer-style shorts. Don't wear clothing that's baggy, as it will hinder your body's movement. For shoes, wear aerobic shoes if possible, but avoid running shoes with heavy treads.

Sports Swimwear

If swimming in competitions, choose a bathing suit that promotes speed and smooth swimming. There are special types of swimsuits that have "vertical line" designs in the material to channel water away from the body. Competition swimwear should be slick, comfortable, and allow for easy body movement.

To find these types of unique sportswear items used to be difficult - especially for those living in a small town with limited retailers. But nowadays, you can shop for all types of sports clothing and fitness apparel from your own home computer any time of the day or week.

Online sports shopping malls offer all types of sports clothing, fitness wear, athletic supplies, sporting goods-sports equipment, sports memorabilia, and more. And, you can usually get a great price for these items online. Use the tips above to dress for sports success!

How To Tie A Neck Tie Scarf

(category: Clothing, Word count: 352)
Share this article on: Facebook, Twitter, Whatsapp

Necktie scarves made of beautiful pieces of silk add a touch of glamour to any dress. They are also fit for casual and semi-formal occasions, and you may try them on formal occasions with caution. Given the range of colors and fabrics, a scarf can be an often used component of your regular dress, though use in moderation would only increase its impact on regular interactions.

A scarf traditionally was worn by women as a sign of modesty, and was incorporated as a dress code in some religions. It had an effect of adding an aura and grace around the wearer's face. Today a scarf is not limited to religious or pious uses. It is as much of a fashion statement as a necktie is.

The various ways of tying a scarf are -

1. Put the scarf down and fold it along the diagonal to make a triangle. Go on folding the scarf to form a 2-inch band. Wrap it around like a tie and form a loose knot. This is the simplest way to tie a scarf. The knot can be kept in the middle or on the sides depending on the type of blouse or top.

2. An ascot look can be achieved as follows. Spread the scarf upside down and pull it upwards holding it from the center. Now make a small knot, and flip both the ends to keep the knot underneath. Wrap the scarf around and let it fall in the front from the base of your neck.

3. A very large piece of scarf can be work like a shawl extending from shoulder to the hips. To begin, fold the scarf into a triangle shape. Wear it on one shoulder and let the end hang around the torso. Take both the ends and tie them on the opposite hip.

4. A simple and easy way to tie a scarf is to first fold it into a triangle shape, and wrapping it around to let the ends fall on the front. Tie them in a simple knot.

Fashion Designer Draws Inspiration From Travels

World traveler and native New Yorker Edward Wilkerson brings a global aesthetic and sophisticated style to today's modern American woman.

As design director for Lafayette 148 New York, Wilkerson travels the globe for inspiration. He brings rich cultural touches to his feminine, chic designs using luxurious fabrics and exquisite tailoring. A true artist, Wilkerson is inspired by the culture, architecture and rich palettes of each exotic locale he visits. "Traveling has taught me to see the beauty in everything," Wilkerson said.

He designs polished and sophisticated separates that allow a woman to create her own individual style. Mixing fabric, texture and color is a hallmark of the Lafayette 148 collection.

Drawing from Indochine influences, Lafayette 148's early season offerings are expressed in sheer fabrics, creating a light, airy mood. Contrast is key; soft leathers mixed with flowing chiffon and cotton seersucker teamed with fluid linen. The spa-inspired colors -; beach glass, taupe, muslin and coral -; are accented with lustrous gold. Flowing, feminine skirts in both solids and prints are coupled with fitted, short jackets.

Wilkerson's Moroccan sojourn is apparent in a grouping of colors and fabrics that call to mind a brightly colored street bazaar: think spicy saturated shades of cinnabar, curry, chocolate and orchid. Distinctive handcrafted embellishments such as beading, embroidery and jeweled sequins define the look.

Another group evokes a chic seaside resort destination: wild Ibiza with bright, colorful prints; or dazzling St. Barth's with its white sand beaches and clear blue water. White featherweight knits are paired with full folkloric skirts. Cool, breezy dresses are summer must-haves.

The Lafayette 148 New York Collection is available at Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom and more than 250 fine specialty stores throughout the U.S.

Why Does That Rhinestone T Shirt Sparkle So Brilliantly

(category: Clothing, Word count: 404)
Share this article on: Facebook, Twitter, Whatsapp

I have had a passion for things that sparkle since I was a competitive figure skater, many years ago. I can remember the beautiful costumes that sparkled so brilliantly under the artificial lighting in the rink. Once rare, this type of adornment is seen everywhere today from the rink to the Runway. Swarovski crystals beam like no other rhinestones out there and rhinestone embellished apparel sparkles more than ever. Through the years, people have asked me many questions about my clothing. One of the big questions is "why does your clothing sparkle so brilliantly?" My response is, of course, that I use genuine Swarovski crystals.

There are several types of rhinestones available. "Austrian" cut-crystal rhinestones are from Swarovski and they set the standard against which all other rhinestones are judged. They are the leaders by far for cut, clarity, color, and brilliance. The crystals are fired using a combination of natural minerals and quartz sand, and then cooled slowly to avoid inclusions. The Swarovski hot fix crystals have special glue affixed to the back of the crystals, allowing the crystals to adhere to fabric upon heating.

Swarovski crystals contain 12 to 14 facets (smooth surface cut) compared to the Czech stones (8 facets.) Other rhinestones are machine pressed (molded) and not cut at all. The last type of rhinestones is readily used because they are the least expensive. They are the stones typically found on clothing found in many clothing stores and discount department stores. Because they are so inexpensive, the apparel can be mass-produced for these stores and sold for a nominal fee. Make no mistake about it; there is a HUGE difference in what I like to call "the sparkle factor" between these stones and Swarovski's crystals. The reason being is that many of these rhinestones are not stones, at all. They are made from molded plastic (acrylic rhinestones.) Because acrylic does not transmit light like crystal, they do not sparkle like the real thing.

Clearly, Swarovski embellished clothing is the way to go if you are looking for high quality clothing that will last for a very long time. The stones stay affixed to the clothing and the sparkle factor never disappears. True, Swarovski crystals are more expensive than most, but as the saying goes, "you get what you pay for." Swarovski embellished clothing is here to stay!

Why Are Our Clothes Made To Standard Sizes

(category: Clothing, Word count: 408)
Share this article on: Facebook, Twitter, Whatsapp

Like so much in American life, the standard clothing sizes we use today can be traced back to the Civil War. If that answer sounds glib, it isn't meant to be. The Civil War was the pivotal event in American history, marking a transition to the modern era, and heralding changes that stood until the 1940s. It even changed the way we buy our clothes.

Antebellum Clothing Sizing

Prior to the Civil War, the overwhelming majority of clothing, for men and women, was tailor-made or home-made. There was a limited variety of mass produced, standardized clothing items, mainly jackets, coats, and undergarments, but even these were only produced in limited quantities. For the most part, clothing for men was made on an individual basis. The Civil War changed that.

Mass Producing Uniforms

During the war, the Northern and Southern armies both needed large quantities of uniforms in a hurry. The South, without a large industrial base, relied primarily on home manufacture for uniforms, and through the war Southern armies typically suffered from a shortage of clothing. The North changed garment making history forever.

It quickly became apparent that the Northern armies could not be supplied with uniforms using traditional modes of clothing production. Fortunately, the North had a well developed textile industry that could meet the challenge.

When the government began to contract with factories for mass produced uniforms, the textile manufacturers quickly realized that they could not make every uniform for a particular soldier. The only option was to standardize the soldiers' uniforms. They sent tailors to the armies, to measure the men, and saw that certain measurements, of arm length, chest size, shoulder width, waist size, and inseam length, would appear together with reliable regularity. Using this mass of measurement information, they put together the first size charts for men's clothing.

So why didn't the textile companies go back to the older production methods after the Civil War? The answer lies in profits, as with many things in business. Clothing manufacturers saw that the standardized sizes they had introduced significantly reduced the manufacturing cost of men's clothing; rather than make one item for one man, they could make one size of an item, mens jackets for example, for a group of men. Suddenly, clothing was easier to produce, mass production became the staple of discount men's clothing, and the clothing industry would never be the same again.

The Rise Of Social Conscience In Art Inspired Fashion

(category: Clothing, Word count: 340)
Share this article on: Facebook, Twitter, Whatsapp

Art can be a means of reconstructing experiences, communicating emotions or echoing the sentiments of individuals or the masses. From the ancient to the modern, artistic works have run the table from simple observations on life to biting social commentary. The growing segment of contemporary artists who bravely showcase their displeasure with the current state of affairs using creation as an inspiration for positive social change are turning up in the strangest of places, even the world of fashion.

While the fashion industry is often viewed as an institution of pretentiousness, demand is still the driving force behind the successes and failures of it's resident elite. Just as consumability regularly forces the hand of design, or rather post runway re-design, growing discontentment and the desire to express the need for a higher social conscience is driving the union between revolutionary art and clothing.

The fashion world is not unlike the music industry, where most are willingly force fed the flavor du jour while a much smaller segment of others will seek out what suits their individual tastes. Shopping mall entrenched retailers are the "contemporary hits" formatted radio stations of the fashion world, where the top ten play list is decided on long before anyone has a chance to consider the merit of the work for themselves. Individualism in society is testing the boundaries of this formula and the effect can be seen in the increased demand for apparel that not only separates itself esthetically, but progressively as well. As more segments of society begin to understand the power of clothing as a mechanism of expression, the natural merger between avant-garde art and fashion will continue to grow. With a great multitude of artists continuing to communicate the need for changes in the way we view ourselves, our relationships with each other and the environment we live in, it seems only natural that the canvas of the human body is next in line as the foremost bearer of this message.

Shirts, pants, shoes and other apparels are incomplete unless you have a nice miss-match of neck tie to give you a perfect look in your dressing. Tying a neck tie is very essential in occasions like a formal meeting in the office, party or functions and workplace etc.

Neck tie tying is a hard task for someone who is ignorant of the tips and tricks to manage one. Here we shall discuss some important factors or tips on how to tie a neck tie? For this the first step is that you should decide the most suitable color that matches your shirt and trousers. Normally solid tie could be worn with patterned shirts and designer tie with solid color shirts. You should never make your tie choice that might go funky with your dressing style.

Secondly, if you are a beginner don't just leave the task of tying a neck tie to someone else who knows it instead try it hard as many times unless you are confident enough of tying one. Steps to tie a neck tie are as follows:

1. You should button up your shirt and collar too. Flip your collar up and wrap the tie around your neck beneath the collar. The wide part should hang twice the thin part along the dominant hand of yours, right or left as the case may be.

2. Then take the wide end and wrap it over the thin part, below your neck in such way that the long part goes around the short end once.

3. Then slip the wide end through the knot that has formed.

4. You need to tuck the long wide end through the knot.

5. Then pull the thin end from the wide end in order to tighten the knot.

6. Then hold the thin end with one hand that is in-dominant and slide the knot upwards with your dominant hand but don't tie the knot so tightly that you feel uneasy to breathe.

There is much type of knot styles like the four-in hand-knot, half-windsor knot, windsor knot etc that goes well with your dressing style.

Work Uniforms Dress Better Than The Rest

(category: Clothing, Word count: 442)

Whether you spend your days knocking door to door selling insurance policies or cosmetics, or wiggle under cars changing drippy oils and fluids, looking your best with a hot to trot work uniform is a career must.

If you work with any type of liquid material like paint or grease, or natural foundation like cement or dirt, purchasing two or three sets of coveralls for work uniforms would be the best protection for your underclothes. This is especially true if you are a hard-working man and are sick and tired of washing your soiled shirts and pants and trying every technique to eliminate those stubborn stains!

For the white-collared professional, looking neat and well kept is a career necessity. Whether you sell, buy, trade or distribute, the appearance of your work uniform is a reflection of your business philosophy. Keep it simple by purchasing solid color plain or pleated dress pants or slacks work uniforms, then make sure they are regularly laundered and pressed.

When choosing tops for work uniforms, a smart pick would be a long-sleeved button down light-colored collared shirt. A solid colored blouse or dress shirt would be appropriate or possibly one with thin, light-colored pin stripes.

Sometimes, the steamy hot sun rears its ugly head and short sleeves are a must for work uniforms. In that case, be sure to choose a cotton or polyester button-down with a neutral color. Fortunately, women can opt for a professional-looking knee or ankle-length skirt to wear to work on those warmer days.

For men, a nice addition to your button-down work uniform shirt would be a necktie. If you aren't adept at typing one, there are plenty of great clip-on styles available. At first glance, it's difficult to distinguish between the two styles, so it probably doesn't matter which you choose! For women, a neckerchief or scarf neatly secured under the collar with a bow showing in the front would be a classy move for a work uniform. If your company has a theme logo, try to coordinate colors with your choice of accessory. For a professional look, keep any accessories simple and small. Top off the work look by keeping your hair pinned away from the face and secured in a braid or low-hanging pony tail.

If your work environment is more casual, you still must maintain a professional appearing work uniform. Choices for a work uniform could include a polo shirt with your name hand-stitched on the chest or, for a fun look, a Hawaiian-style or colorfully printed button-down shirt that is not faded and looks crisp and fresh.
